Archbishop Chaput on Secularist Inquisitors: “Sex is their weapon of choice”

Archbishop Charles Chaput has been a stalwart leader of those who dare to fight against the rising tide of secularism. In a speech delivered at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary in Winona, Minn., he said it is up to the Church to lead the resistance.

He called out the enemies of truth, who he identified as “secular inquisitors” who “seek to enforce a new orthodoxy which rejects basic human truths.”

“Sex is their weapon of choice,” Chaput said, “a kind of Swiss Army knife of gender confusion, sexual license, and ferocious moralizing against anything that hints of classic Christian morality, purity, modesty, fertility, and lifelong fidelity based on the sexual complementarity of women and men.”

What holds us back?  Fear caused by a lack of faith.  “The central problem in constructing a Christian culture is our lack of faith and the cowardice it produces. We need to admit this. And then we need to submit ourselves to a path of repentance and change, and unselfish witness to others.”

    The article is highly recommended.

  • Cardinal Sarah on “Gender Ideology”

    Cardinal Sarah on “Gender Ideology”

It ought to be easy to speak out against sexual deviancy – after all, it takes a true sociopath to believe (and publicly proclaim) that pedophilia or pederasty are acceptable.

When it comes to “gender ideology”, far too many prelates have remained silent for far too long; some, like Jesuit Fr. James Martin, approve.  One can only pray that the number of “James Martins” in the priesthood is on the wane.  Others may fail to speak out of fear; or worse, cowardice.  But many may fail to speak because, perhaps out of a desire not to offend, they simply can’t find the right words.

Cardinal Sarah suffers from no such failures. In a recent interview with the French publication La Nef, as translated in CNS News, he addresses the issues squarely and fearlessly:

“From [God] we receive our nature as man and woman,” he said. “This is intolerable to modern minds. Gender ideology is a Luciferian refusal to receive a sexual nature from God. Thus some rebel against God and pointlessly mutilate themselves in order to change their sex. But in reality they do not fundamentally change anything of their structure as man or woman.”

“The West refuses to receive, and will accept only what it constructs for itself,” said Cardinal Sarah. “Transhumanism is the ultimate avatar of this movement. Because it is a gift from God, human nature itself becomes unbearable for western man.”

The rest of the article is equally revealing.
